Please read prior to requesting an inspection.

Permit Expiry Update
Notice to Permit Holders: NCGS SL 2020-3, also known as SB 704 or the COVID-19 Recovery Act, extended the expiration date of a number of permits earlier this year.

Permits that were valid during the period of March 10 and April 28, 2020, were extended five months. On September 28, 2020, any permits set to expire between March 10 and September 28 will expire as this provision sunsets.

Mecklenburg County Code Enforcement staff strongly encourages customers to take necessary measures to address any permits that will be expiring to avoid having these expirations reflected on the contractor or homeowner’s record. To address permits that have expired or are due to expire soon, please contact the Code Enforcement Customer Service Center at 980-314-CODE(2633), option 1.

COVID-19 Update
While we are continuing to perform field inspections, effective March 18, 2020, our offices are closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Permit issuance will continue with little change. Field inspections will continue with slight modifications to observe social distancing protocols.

If your team already has a meeting scheduled at our offices, we will be contacting you to arrange a virtual or “video chat” meeting.

At this time, we do not know how long this modification will be necessary. We apologize for the inconvenience. We are committed to continuing to serve you well under these extraordinary circumstances.

Customers can now apply for demo permits online! Paper packets submitted after Jan. 1, 2018, will be subject to a convenience fee. To read more about our online demo permit application process visit OnLine Demo Permits
